• Photocopiable resource of self-development materials.
Despite its importance and its ubiquity, the appraisal process remains - at best - a chore and - at worst - a total mystery to many managers and their staff. Mike Tilling and Mary Birch’s The Appraisal Organiser identifies and addresses the needs of four different stakeholders: The appraiser; The appraisee; The trainer of HR specialist; The supervisor or team leader.
The Appraisal Organiser is divided into three separate volumes:
Volume One: Strategies, Techniques and Tools, is based upon the principles of open learning. It provides both theory and analysis, and includes activities to stimulate thinking about the appraisal process, checklists and sample forms.
Volume Two: Training Sessions, includes ten outline training sessions for developing appraisers. Each session includes a suggested training style, aims and objectives, timing, a ‘degree of difficulty’ indicator plus full explanation of how to organise the material and run the session.
Volume Three: Self-Development Units, emphasises creative thinking and personal initiative. Each of the 20 personal development units sets out to help individuals answer the question ‘How can I contribute more?’ Alongside each unit, there are guidance materials for the line manager or coach who may be facilitating the development process.
